I’m delighted to confirm that in line with my first ambassadorial communication, the home of England rugby is getting ready to roll out the welcome mat, as supporters are due to return for the Summer Series this July. The players, coaching staff and all those that work behind the scenes at the iconic Twickenham Stadium can’t wait!
Expect speed, skill and thrilling play in the two Test Matches, that will see England take on USA (Sunday 4 July) and Canada the following weekend (Saturday 10 July). The opposition are experienced, have astute coaches and because The British and Lions have called up 11 England players to tour South Africa at the same time, there will be some exciting new caps. In the words of head coach, Eddie Jones “… For players, it’s a chance to show what they can do at international level and how they are in the team environment… “
One of my ambitions is to introduce the hospitality readership to up and coming talent, highlight players to look out for, so without further ado, and in advance of England’s summer series squad announcement, here’s are three names that I’m sure need no introductions:
Marcus Smith – A fantastic season from the young maestro winning the Golden boot for the first time. Marcus has played an instrumental role in Harlequins qualifying for the first play-off semi-finals since 2014. A player that has shown supreme skill, flashes of brilliance, coupled with great maturity. A future England leader.
Ben Curry – Whilst his twin brother Tom is away on Lion’s duty, an opportunity for Ben to take centre stage at home with England. The tour to Argentina in 2017 was the birthplace for Tom Curry who has gone on to become one of the best openside flankers in World Rugby. Huge opportunity awaits brother Ben.
Ollie Sleightholme – Just like his father, very quick! He’s proven to be a consistent performer and finisher across this season. Profiting from the saints coaching philosophy headed up by Chris Boyd but ably assisted by some great young English talented coaches (Sam Vesty, Phil Dowson, Ian Vass) with Daly & Watson away a huge opportunity to show what he can do on an international stage.
Let me know what you think?
