The Wild at Heart Foundation is a charity with a vision to end the suffering of stray dogs all over the world. They believe that every rescue dog deserves the chance to live a healthy, happy life free from the threat of pain, suffering, cruelty or neglect.
They champion compassion and collaboration, believing that there is power in kindness and community to reach a common goal, helping to make the world a kinder and better place.
Wild at Heart’s mission is to compassionately reduce the world’s 600 million stray dog population and put an end to the suffering that so many dogs face around the world. They aim to do this by addressing four key areas: global rescue and adoption, organising and funding sterilisation projects, delivering awareness initiatives and educational campaigns, particularly aimed towards children.
The challenge they’re facing.
More than three quarters of the world’s dog population are strays, with an estimate of over 600 million stray dogs.
One litter of puppies born onto the streets leads to an average of 67,000 unwanted dogs born within six years. It is for this reason that mass sterilisation is the only ethical and effective way to control the problem and reduce the number of dogs that will go on to live a life of misery and pain on cold, dirty streets. The charity helps dogs from countries such as Greece, India, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Lebanon and Thailand.
How we can help.
Here at Keith Prowse, we are avid dog lovers. In the last few years, we have introduced an initiative allowing our employees to bring their dogs into the office. Dogs are important for our wellbeing and for many, being around them has a positive effect on our mental health, acting as a form of therapy and stress-relief.
We have our own Chief Morale Officers, otherwise known as our Office Dogs, who are responsible for providing cuddles, play time and contributing towards general happiness at work which benefits so many of our employees.
The devastating figures of the global stray dog population is eye-opening and something that can be improved with the help of amazing charities like Wild at Heart. We wanted to do something to help Wild at Heart to continue their mission and help to rescue more dogs around the world and find loving, safe homes for them. Supporting such a hardworking, compassionate cause was important for us to help them improve the problem that so many dogs face around the world, working to enhance their quality of life.
Keith Prowse will be offering hospitality tickets for the charity to auction off and raise money.
