The Brit Awards is a popular annual music awards ceremony that celebrates the best in music over the past year. First held in 1977, The Brits is the highest profile music awards ceremony in the UK and has seen some of the greatest music legends in history take to the stage, including Michael Jackson, Coldplay, Spice Girls and Madonna.
The 2021 ceremony, which was postponed to May due to the pandemic, saw record-breaking numbers for their international viewing audience, resulting from a creative and impactful digital campaign. Stand-out fashion, electric performances and emotional speeches are some of the highlights of this event. Performances included Dua Lipa, Headie One, Griff, The Weekend, Rag’n’Bone Man and P!nk (to name a few). British girl group, Little Mix, also made history in 2021 when they became the first female group to receive the Best Group award after 43 years since it was introduced.
Robbie Williams holds a record number of 13 Brit Awards for best solo artist and another 5 when he was part of Take That. Following closely behind is the incredible Adele and Coldplay, who have both won 9 awards each.

The Brits 2022The 2022 Brit awards returns on Tuesday 6 February. Comedian Mo Gilligan will host his first Brit Awards for the 2022 show, taking over from Jack Whitehall after four consecutive years of presenting.
New genre categories have been added to the awards this year, including Alternative/Rock Act, Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Dance Act and Pop/R’n’B Act. The Male and Female categories have been removed as the awards are aiming to be as inclusive as possible, irrespective of gender, after Sam Smith’s speech last year brought this issue to light.
The highly anticipated nominations for the 2022 awards was exclusively announced on Saturday 18 December 2021 in a show hosted by Maya Jama and Clara Amfo. 13 awards will be given out at the 2022 awards, including for the first time ever, International Song of the Year! We’re keeping our eyes peeled to see who might win this incredible new award.
