Keith Prowse celebrates the rugby photographer of the year

May 31, 2022

Here at Keith Prowse, we had the amazing opportunity to partner up with the Rugby Journal to sponsor their Rugby Photographer of the Year competition which came to a resounding end last week. With over 600 entries were made from all around the world, the judging panel had some tough decisions to make. The panel was made up of creative directors, photographers, marketing directors as well as current and former players, including Ugo Monye, Brian Moore and Rachael Burford. Let’s get to it then, who was the winner?

Rachel Wright from Australia was named the 2022 Rugby Journal Photographer of the Year at the showcase awards evening, hosted at the World Rugby Museum in Twickenham Stadium. Rachel’s photo captured celebrations at the Queensland Premier Rugby Hospital Cup Grand Final between University of Queensland and GPS Rugby Club, showing the celebrations and bond between players and fans after victory. Rachel wins a prize of £1000 and one of our hospitality experiences at Twickenham Stadium to see England v South Africa.

The award was presented by our Head of Twickenham Sales, Ozzie Wolf who said: “Rachel’s photo is a fantastic celebration of rugby and its power to bring communities together. The sheer unadulterated joy rugby can evoke at all levels of the game is there for all to see in her photograph.”

The winning image plus the 59 other shortlisted images will form a display in the World Rugby Museum.

All shortlisted entries and the winners of each category appear in the new edition of the Rugby Journal, which features Lawrence Dallaglio, Caldy, Aspatria, the Red Roses, Max Malins, George Kruis and the story of the 1991 women’s Rugby World Cup.
