It was only three years in the making, but guests and tennis lovers finally descended on The Queen’s Club, for the 2022 cinch Championships. Seven glorious days of tennis took place in W14, kickstarting the British grass-court season in weather that Brits can only dream of experiencing on home soil!
As for hospitality, 2022 welcomed a range of reimagined experiences at The Queen’s Club. Guests enjoyed elements such as Pimm’s on tap, live music and even watched players warm up on the courts from the private balcony, all before heading to their Centre Court seats. Quality was not only provided in the hospitality spaces, but also on-court; a stellar line-up of players at this year’s Championships served up a healthy dose of world-class tennis.
Hospitality, Reimagined
Love Fifteen: Our entry package, however one that is much loved by tennis fans thanks to its tennis-themed décor. The immersive tennis graphics on its walls perfectly complimented it’s light and dark blue colour themes. An informal dining experience, and our most affordable, Love Fifteen was a huge hit with our guests.
Roof Garden: The epitome of a British-themed garden, Roof Garden was a simply gorgeous space for our guests. Welcomed by a Nyetimber reception into a floral haven; guests enjoyed live music, interactive stations such as a ‘build your own Eton mess’ and sipping Pimm’s on the balcony just inches away from the practice courts. A simply stunning offering for clients, colleagues, friends and family.
Club Lounge: Last, but certainly not least, we have Club Lounge, the ultimate gastronomic experience. A bright space with an upmarket ambience, elevated by elements such as a live pianist and a Champagne reception. Club Lounge certainly ticked all boxes when it came to a premium experience. It’s brand-new look and new colour themes provided that extra touch of class.
Guests in the stunning Real Tennis private rooms and President’s Room, situated in the Queen’s Club historic Clubhouse, were also treated to the finest food offerings, including a traditional afternoon tea and premium seats on Centre Court. Sophistication and prestige at its finest.
Lunch is Served
Everything from the initial food tastings, menu tweaks and the final garnish on the plate came down to immense preparation and detail. There is no doubt that an incredible amount of precision and effort goes into our food choices and menus. Absolute Taste and The Queen’s Club both deliver the menus at The Queen’s Club Championships – menus fit for royalty may we add! Take a look at some of the works of art delivered this year…
Berettini becomes back-to-back Queen’s champion
Matteo Berrettini lifted the Queen’s Club trophy for a second time, after he defeated world No.38 Filip Krajinovic in straight-sets, 7-5, 6-4. Not only was the Italian the first player to lift the trophy on his first two appearances in the tournament in the Open Era, but he was also the first Queen’s Club Championships player to win consecutive titles since Andy Murray’s 2015 and 2016 triumphs. Berrettini now stands as World No.10 and has claimed 3 wins in his last 4 grass-court appearances. The champion’s 100mph forehand strikes were just no match for his Serbian opponent.
As for the doubles, it was Croatian double act Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic who went home with the trophy. They now claim 14 incredible grass wins, after beating Brit-Finnish duo Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara, who they also faced, and beat, in the 2021 Eastbourne International. Ending at 3-6, 7-6(3), 10-6, the heat was certainly cranked up in more ways than just the outside temperatures!
