Below is a table of Ben’s bio for England, highlighting his total runs scored, wickets taken and some key information about him.
Domestic Cricket
Ben plays his domestic cricket for Durham in the County Championship and also plays for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred. However, the busy international schedule means Ben plays very few games for both Durham and the Superchargers.
Career Highlights
Ben Stokes has produced many memorable moments in his England career so far, from his maiden test hundred in Australia (in his second ever test match) to scoring England’s quickest ever double century (258 from 198 balls) in Cape Town. However, Ben Stokes guided England to arguably their greatest ever victory in 2019, gaining him the nickname Headingly Hero. England still needed 200 runs to win when Root departed; Stokes then went on a solo attack of the Australian bowlers that saw him score 135 not out, winning England the game by just one wicket. This was a heroic effort from the now captain that will be reminisced for years to come. In 2019, Stokes was awarded BBC Sports Personality of the Year. More recently, the England captain scored another century in the Ashes series against Australia in July, during one of the most incredible and controversial finishes in the series history. However even his 155 wasn't enough to score England the win, but nevertheless was an astounding performance for the player. In September, Stokes recorded an amazing 182 runs from 124 balls, breaking Jason Roy's record for England's highest individual ODI score during the England v New Zealand ODI at The Kia Oval - an incredible achievement!
