2022 was an action-packed year of sport, with the remainder of delayed competitions being played from covid, there was never a quiet moment.
We look ahead to all the outstanding events Keith Prowse have to offer for the year ahead.
Guinness Six Nations – 4 February – 18 March
What a way to kick the year off, as the last Six Nations before the Rugby World Cup it is one of the last opportunities some of the sides will have to play competitively. It will be a real test for the teams and players, as managers and coaches build their squads to go to France.
For England this will be the first test of new head coach Steve Borthwick and his team. Fans will be eager to see how England fair in the competition and see what Borthwick can bring to the side.
Red Roses v France
Keith Prowse is proud to announce that we will be selling hospitality for the first ever Red Roses headline match at Twickenham Stadium.
We are delighted to share the exciting and mementos news that the Tik Tok Six Nations is coming to the Home of England Rugby – Twickenham Stadium, in what is set to be an epic head-to-head battle. England’s beloved Red Roses are set to face France on Saturday, 29 April 2023 in what could once again be the grand slam decider.
Blast Off – 20 May
After an exhilarating Finals Day in 2022 where Hampshire Hawks won by just 1 run, the Vitality T20 Blast is back with a bang for 2023. And to kick off the new season in style Edgbaston are hosting the Vitality Blast Off. Blast off will see four teams compete in two matches, Birmingham Bears v Yorkshire Vikings and Derbyshire Falcons v Lancashire Lightening.
In November England became the T20 World Cup Champions with some exhilarating, fast paced T20 cricket, after winning this, fans are excited to catch a glimpse of the World Cup Winner players and all that the T20 Blast will bring in 2023.
HSBC London Sevens – 20 – 21 May
For those that love rugby and those that have never seen a game, the HSBC London Sevens is a great day out, full of food, drink and of course… lots of fast paced, action packed rugby.
With London being the last stop on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, it is all to play for as the teams from around the world battle it out to become series champions. With the pool stages being played on Saturday 20 May and the knockouts on Sunday 21 May, there are two full days to choose from. Experience the exhilarating atmosphere of the sevens at Twickenham Stadium.
Ashes Test Match at Edgbaston – 16 – 20 June
The first test of an Ashes Series can often set the tone for the series. For the 2023 Series this important first test is being held at the iconic Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. This will be the 73rd Ashes series, 140 years on from when the Ashes legend began in 1882. Since then, there have been 340 tests and 72 series played, with Australia just leading with 34 series wins to England’s 32.
Can England close the gap and win back the Ashes, or will Australia return home as reigning champions?
cinch Championships at The Queens Club – 19 – 25 June
The cinch Championships returns in 2023! The popular stop on the ATP tour is played in the historic, 137-year-old club Queens Club. Due to the prestige of the venue, the cinch Championships is often a top spot for many players, attracting many big names in tennis. We will likely see returning, back-to-back champion Matteo Berrettini back out on the courts at the Queens Club, this time to defend his title and become only the 4th player ever in the open era to win three consecutive championships at The Queens Club.
Rothesay International Eastbourne – 26 June – 1 July
Often dubbed ‘the Wimbledon warm-up’ the Rothesay International is the last opportunity players on both the ATP and WTA tours have to practice competing on the grass surface before The Championships, Wimbledon. Because of this it can often bring in some big names, in previous years the competition has seen players including, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Feliciano Lopez, Cam Norrie and many more. Specifically on the WTA tour, of the last 5 Lady’s Champions at Wimbledon, 4 played at Eastbourne the week before the Championships. Enjoy quality tennis at the seaside in Eastbourne in 2023.
The Championships, Wimbledon – 3 – 16 July
Enjoy strawberries and cream and world-class tennis at the iconic Championships, Wimbledon. The last and biggest of the grass court tournaments in the British grass court season will see Novak Djokovic attempt to join the likes of Björn Borg and Roger Federer, to become the third player ever to win five consecutive Championships at Wimbledon. He is also looking to equal Federer’s record of 8 titles at the tournament. Will Djokovic de-throne Federer as the King of Wimbledon and win his 8th title, or will Federer remain as the most successful player both on grass and at Wimbledon?
Ashes Test Match at The Kia Oval – 27 – 31 July
The 2023 Ashes Series will come to a close with the final test being played at London’s Kia Oval. Located in the heart of London, The Kia Oval is the perfect venue to bring the 2023 Ashes Series to an end. Can England win back the Ashes from Australia, having not held them since Australia won them back in 2017? It will likely be all to play for!
Summer Series – 12, 25, 26 August
The Summer Series this year will be the final international games England will play before the World Cup in France this September. England will face Wales (12 August) and Fiji (26 August) at Twickenham as a final warm up, as well as to test the world cup squad and see if any changes will be needed before the World Cup. Also part of the Summer Series, the All Blacks will take on the 2019 Rugby World Cup Champions, the Springboks at Twickenham Stadium (25 August).
The Hundred – 1 – 27 August
The Hundred returns again for its third year in 2023. The exciting, fast paced competition has quickly gained a large number of fans. It’s a relatively short competition with matches being played nearly every day for the month of August. The double header style of games means both the men’s and women’s teams compete against the same opponent one after the other, meaning fans can support their teams and enjoy two full games!
2023 France Rugby World Cup – 8 September – 28 October
Four years on from Japan the rugby nations from around the world are preparing to compete in what is set to be a brilliant World Cup. With recent fixtures between the southern and northern hemisphere teams proving to be unpredictable and all highly competitive, and with lots of movement in squads and coaching staff, it is impossible to call any favourites. This world cup will also see Chile compete for the first time ever after beating the USA to qualify.
