The ICC World Test Championships Final

The World Test Championships, run by the International Cricket Council, is a Test cricket tournament designed to discover the best Test cricket team in the world.

The competition started on the 1 August 2019 and is intended to be the premier championship for Test cricket. The 2023 final will see the two best Test Match teams in the world come face-to-face at The Kia Oval, for what is set to be a thrilling clash of the titans. The tournament is played over two years, with each team playing three home and three away matches – and it all comes to a head this June at London’s most historic cricket ground.

Teams in the competition are ranked based on the percentage of possible points won during their Test matches. A win is worth 12 points, whilst a tie is worth 6, a draw 4 and a loss is of course worth nothing.

However, with the opportunity to gain valuable points, there is also a possibility of teams being deducted points – specifically for a slow over rate.
