Edgbaston Stadium is renowned globally as an iconic cricket stadium and one every big cricket fan wants to tick of their list. Home to the Warwickshire Bears and Birmingham Phoenix, two instantly recognisable teams to cricket fans. It’s also well known for its incredible atmosphere, world-class hospitality facilities and lively stands such as the Eric Hollies.
Edgbaston has an array of facilities which cater to a wide range of preferences, from formal experiences in facilities such as The Warwickshire Suite to informal settings in The Experience Club – we’re confident it has something to suite everyone. For our informal facilities (The Experience Club, Aylesford Boxes) smart casual dress is recommended, which means no ripped jeans, flip flops or sportswear.
Offering a wide range of fixtures and tournaments throughout the cricket season, we want to ensure our guests feel confident with what to wear at Edgbaston throughout the cricket calendar. With the T20’s offering a more relaxed atmosphere, The Hundred is a sea of colour and vibrant evenings, compared with the slightly more formal internationals like the Ashes Series. Each event attracts a slightly different crowd, and we explore how we recommend dressing depending on the fixture you book.
Style is subjective and here at Keith Prowse we appreciate that everyone has different taste in fashion, much like music and food, therefore we wanted to highlight the style guidelines that we provide to ensure you are dressed appropriately for your chosen experience.
Our most formal facilities on offer are the Warwickshire Suite and the Executive Boxes, guests are therefore asked to dress accordingly. For men, jackets and ties are not obligatory, however collared shirts are advised - smart shorts are also permitted in the hot weather. Women’s dresses, blouses or smart tops may be sleeveless and smart sandals may be worn. No trainers, flip-flops, plimsolls, ripped jeans or team colours are permitted within this facility.
Knowing what to wear in a hospitality setting can be difficult, we recommend when hosting you come donned in a shirt with a smart pair of chinos - a light jacket to accompany also works well.
Domestic Cricket
Domestic cricket offers a more relaxed setting with a vast majority of the fixtures played on the weekend or evenings, which in themselves often cater to a less formal audience.
T20 Vitality Blast - The T20 always provides an upbeat, lively atmosphere which also correlates to the style of outfits we typically expect to see.
The Hundred - With many similarities between the Vitality Blast and The Hundred, we would recommend guests wear a more relaxed style of clothing to these fixtures too.
T20 and The Hundred always provide a colourful and vibrant day at the cricket and we of course want guests to take part and get involved with this. A bright colourful summers t-shirt, polo shirt or team jersey paired with a pair of trousers or a summery dress, is the perfect blend of colour and style .
International Cricket
Test Series - A test series means more formal attire is generally expected throughout our facilities, in line with what we see throughout the stadium. Smart casual can be worn with men wearing chinos and an open shirt. A blazer is of course optional but may be a nice addition to your outfit particularly on the windier afternoons which can be common in British summertime.
One Day International matches – These fixtures require a similar stye of attire to that of a test series - smarter wear is recommended such as the examples described above.
We hope you have found this article useful and take into consideration the recommended dress code above for your upcoming bookings at Edgbaston Stadium.
