The TikTok Women’s Six Nations is one of the biggest tournaments in Women’s rugby. With the 2023 tournament well under way, there were some thrilling encounters to kick-start this year’s tournament.
England hosted Scotland at a sold-out Kingston Park, only a stone’s throw away from Scottish turf, but England showed who was truly at home, not only from the packed-out crowd, sea of England shirts or aspiring Red Roses cheering on their team, but because of an incredible 58 – 7 victory. Talking of the current Champions, they have a record 20 games unbeaten in the tournament, beating their previous record of 19 games unbeaten. This is an incredible feat but of course no surprise for such a dominant side.
A match highlight was hard to choose as it was such an impressive display of force from the Red Roses, but one try in particular turned heads of rugby fans watching, this was from none other than Claudia Macdonald, who covered 50 metres of the pitch in her solo effort to get over the line!
A great send off for Sarah Hunter, a Red Roses legend who made waves in developing the women’s game throughout her record breaking 141 caps. Making her Six Nations debut in 2007 it was a fitting end to her highly decorated 16-year long career. Passing on the baton, Marlie Packer promises to continue the legacy of her teammate and she certainly gave Sarah an impressive farewell scoring 3 tries in their Six Nations opener.
