From the Ashes to The Hundred, The Kia Oval hosts a range of events that vary in formality. Being properly dressed for the occasion is always important, however it is sometimes difficult to know what to wear, you don’t want to be too over or under dressed. To make this easier we have made a guide for you, giving advice on what to wear in the different facilities and at the different fixtures.
The dress code for The Kia Oval is smart casual, whilst this gives some direction it is a very broad category that can be interpreted in many ways.
So, what actually is smart casual?
If you frequently attend hospitality, we are sure you are used to a smart casual dress code. However, one person’s smart casual may be very different so someone else. Smart casual can include anything from jeans and a t-shirt to a shirt and jacket without a tie. It is important to know which way to go to ensure you don’t feel out of place.
On the more casual side of smart casual, we would suggest for everyone trousers or jeans with a t-shirt with smart trainers, women could also wear a casual skirt and top with smart trainers or sandals. Wearing your teams’ colours to show support is also encouraged, whether that be England’s whites or the blues and greens of Surrey or The Oval Invincibles.
The next step up is a more mid-range look between the more casual side and the smarter side. This could just be changing a t-shirt to a collared polo shirt or a casual button up, or perhaps chinos or smart trousers rather than jeans. For women this could also include dress with smart trainers over a skirt and top. For this mid-level, like the more casual side, it is also very acceptable to wear your teams’ colours.
Finally, the smarter side. We would suggest chinos or smart trousers with a collared shirt, a jacket is also often a nice addition to complete the look. For this smarter side it is best to steer away from jeans and smart trainers and go for a more formal shoe. For women we suggest a smart sandal, boots or heals with a smart dress or blouse.
What to wear for different fixtures?
As a general rule T20 and The Hundred fixtures require slightly less formal attire than international games. However, some facilities at The Kia Oval are more formal than others and so would favour smarter attire than the more informal leaning facilities.
Ashes Suite, Corinthian roof terrace (raise the roof) and the Pakistan Terrace are all less formal experiences than the Duchy Suite and the Executive Boxes. If you are viewing an international fixture at one of these facilities a more mid-range smart casual look would be appropriate. However, if you are viewing a fixture in the Vitality T20 Blast or The Hundred, dressing on the more casual side of smart casual would be better suited.
If you are in the Duchy Suite or an Executive Box, we would recommend a look on the smarter side of smart casual for international fixtures, and a mid-range outfit for The Hundred or T20 fixtures.
If you are being hosted in a private box and are not sure on what to wear, you should contact your host as they may have their own expectations for their box.
The one thing we ask for in all facilities is no ripped jeans and no flipflops.
We hope you have an amazing day at The Kia Oval with Keith Prowse Hospitality
