Bears to take an attacking shot this T20 Blast

May 3, 2023

Warwickshire bears are gearing up to start their 2023 T20 Vitality Blast campaign. After a successful 2022 season toping the north division table and losing out on a spot in the final’s day to Hampshire Hawks. They I’ll be certainly hoping to build from last seasons promising fixtures and secure their spot in the finals day which takes place at none over than Edgbaston Stadium, The Home of the Warwickshire Bears.

So, let’s get straight into the team for 2023. What and who have the Bears brought in this season? Of course, we will discuss the big-name players who we cannot wait to see in action live at Edgbaston in front of a packed-out home crowd.

Sam Hain showed his batting ability throughout the 2022 tournament and just how dangerous he is with the bat! We can’t wait to see him back in action at Edgbaston hitting big sixes into the Eric Hollies stand. Shown through the impressive 73 not out against Derbyshire Falcons in the 2022 tournament. Record breaking performances were on show at Edgbaston because of superb batting from the likes of Adam Hose, scoring a whopping century in impressive style hitting the ball for six to take him over the impressive boundary. Of course the Birmingham legend Chris Woakes will be looking forward to pleasing fans at Edgbaston this summer with his superb all-round ability, with the stats showcasing this being the Bears third highest wicket taker of all time! Missing out on last year’s tournament due to an injury he will be sure to make up for it this year, having already shown his commitment to Warwickshire when deciding to turn down a spot in the IPL to focus on Mark Robinson’s ambitions for the 2023 season.

For the big news every Birmingham Bears fan has been hoping for… the return of World Cup winner Moeen Ali will return to his home team for

Speaking about the pride he will feel by leading the side Moeen said, “It’s an exciting team and I’ll be surrounded by some amazing players. I’ve always felt the Bears are a very good side but haven’t fulfilled their potential. I hope in the next couple of years I can win the Blast, then I’ll feel I’ve given a small bit back to Warwickshire”. Bears fans and cricket fans alike cannot wait to see the return of the Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali duo this summer!

Looking back on some key performances for the Bears, losing out in the closing end of the season to Hampshire Hawks at home with the Hawks reaching 186 – 6 with impressive performances from Mcdermott and James Vince to confirm their place in the Finals Day and Denying the Bears a shot of lifting the trophy at home. This was not the way the Bears planned on ending the season leaving a sour taste in the mouths of their fanbase. However, there was much to take from this season with some huge performances scoring over 200 in numerous fixtures and an impressive display of bowling against the likes of Worcestershire Rapids and the Steelbacks.

Edgbaston StadiumThe Birmingham Bears will be hoping they can go all the way to Finals Day this year and make use of the home advantage they will have at Edgbaston Stadium this July.

With it nearly only a month to go before Warwickshire Bears kick off proceedings against the Yorkshire Vikings, and what an epic stage to start their 2023 campaign than at home against the Yorkshire Vikings in the Vitality Blast Off. What a game to go and watch, with last year’s fixture a real thriller which qualified bears through to the Quarter Finals achieving a whopping 238 – 5 the fourth highest score in 2022’s Blast.

Secure your place at a range of fixtures in this year’s Vitality Blast, with a variety of facilities on offer there is an experience for everyone!
