We are delighted to announce that the Chef Proprietor, restaurateur, and television personality – Glynn Purnell, is going to be cooking up a storm in the Warwickshire Suite at Edgbaston Stadium, for our 2023 major match days.
Glynn is a familiar face on tv shows such as The Great British Menu, and the Yummy Brummie was the first to earn a Michelin star for the city of Birmingham back in 2005 – of which he describes as one of his greatest achievements. Glynn currently owns and is involved in many restaurants in the Birmingham area, including the Michelin Starred Purnell’s, Plates, and many other smaller restaurants across Birmingham too.
Beginning his career at 14, Glynn has extensive experience working in Michelin Star restaurants, and has owned Purnell’s for 16 years since it first opened in 2007. Glynn has trained with many amazing chefs including the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Gary Rhodes and Claude Bosi to name just a few.
When asked where he takes inspiration for his menus and dishes from, he replied from his personal experiences, visuals, tastes and all the senses combined. He looks at flavours from when he was young, and they spark memories and emotions that he wants to evoke when serving his dishes.
When beginning our search for an exceptional Chef to cook in the Warwickshire Suite this year, Glynn was of course Keith Prowse’s first port of call. He is not only a well-known name in the industry but comes with an impressive reputation and has always been an advocate for supporting his native city of Birmingham.
So, what can guests expect from Glynn’s menu at the England v Australia Ashes Test Match, T20 Finals Day and the England v New Zealand IT20?
