Introducing Stray Kids at BST Hyde Park

three minutes
There truly are some epic acts coming to Central London's world famous Hyde Park this summer, but one stands alone in being truly unique; Stray Kids!

Read on below to learn more about who they are, the oh-so-interesting K-Pop genre that they lead within, and how you can see them live this summer at American Express presents BST Hyde Park - for their only UK show of 2024!

First things first; who are Stray Kids?

Glad you asked! Stray Kids are a self-producing, super innovative, eight-member boy band formed in 2017 following a reality TV show of the same name.

They quickly nurtured an ultra-loyal global fanbase - affectionately known as STAYs - thanks to their polished, high-energy performances of their relevant and relatable discography, which takes influences from hip-hop, electronic and even rock music. Some even believe that they now have their own self-titled sub-genre within the K-Pop world…

The band name inspiringly alludes to a lost child that aspires to chasing their dreams, whatever they may be.

Interesting; tell me more about Stray Kids!

The group is made up of Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. - Bang Chan is known as the bands leader, but Felix takes on more of the English speaking leadership roles given his Australian-Korean upbringing.

The band have released three Korean albums between 2020 and 2023 - 'Go Live', 'Noeasy' and '5-Star' - plus one Japanese album, 'The Sound'.

Stray Kids were originally a nine-piece group, but unfortunately, Woojin left the group in October 2019 due to undisclosed personal reasons.

Have Stray Kids won any awards or accolades?

From MTV, People's Choice, Billboard and Nickelodeon music awards in the western world to all kinds of awards across Asia, Stray Kids have a trophy cabinet far beyond their years. The band have now sold more than 10 million records worldwide, and were named within NYC-based magazine Time's Next Generation Leaders list for 2023.

They are fashion icons within many parts of Asia especially, with ambassadorial roles at varying cosmetic products, festivals - even for the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism - and more recently, for Tommy Hilfiger, Versace and Louis Vuitton.

What is the K-Pop genre?

As you have now perhaps surmised, K-Pop stands for Korean Pop - a phenomenon within Asia of recent years, which is fast becoming as popular in Japan and now Europe as it's native South Korea! Along with BTS and BLACKPINK - the latter of whom actually headlined BST Hyde Park 2023 - Stray Kids really are pioneering this new genre, worldwide.

Known for synchronised dance routines and stylish visuals - and of course, the music encompassing strong vocals and vibes taken from rap, pop and electronic music - K-Pop really is an exciting genre all to itself.

Where have Stray Kids performed recently - and where will they be performing next?

In the last few years - of course with a COVID-related intermission - Stray Kids have completed two world tours, a tour of Asia and also some promotional tours. From Seoul to Sydney, Tokyo to Paris, and Bangkok to Berlin…for being a relatively young band, these guys have really racked up the air miles!

Their organiser, JYP Entertainment, are still in the midst of locking down their full 2024 calendar, but Stray Kids have confirmed that they will be performing select shows across Asia this year as well as in Milan, Italy - excitingly however, their attendance at BST Hyde Park will be only their 2nd ever live performance in London!

Ok tell me; how can I see Stray Kids live in 2024?

With general admission selling very quickly - Stray Kids have a very engaged fanbase, and will be joined by Maisie Peters, Alec Benjamin, Nmixx, Kire, Dhruv, Elijah Woods, Bellah Mae, Tyler Lewis, Ben Ellis & Alienblaze - now is the time to guarantee your spot at BST Hyde Park 2024 with a premium experience.
