Our chosen charity for 2025: The Baobab School

Keith Prowse and The Experience Golf are proud to work with The Baobab for another year, following on from our successes in 2023.

The Baobab is a small, family run charity who care for and educate 90 very deprived children from age 3 to 6 in Nairobi, Kenya. The charity offers security, healthcare, clothing, as well as a sense of belonging and happiness - all things that every child deserves to have and experience in their life.

Through various challenges and fundraisers, including our Great Big Walk across London and Golfathon in St Andrews, we raised £12,000 for the charity, which helped to build a fully-functioning library for the school:

"Thank you for the helping hand you have held to us. The library you have built has helped us a lot an we really have discovered more. The books in the library have also helped us to improve our vocabulary. In our country it is very rare to see someone reading books or going to the library."

Now, we're going bigger. In October 2024, we'll be picking up our walking boots once again, for the Great Thames Path challenge! We’ll be walking 26 miles from Kingston to Tower Bridge, which will certainly demonstrate a need for teamwork, resilience and strength. What’s more, our team in St Andrews will be completing their very own Home of Golf challenge; the team will also need to show their strength and determination as they embark on a walking and cycling challenge that encompasses some of the most well-known courses in the area, from Carnoustie to the famous Old Course.

So, what are we raising money for this year? We’ve set ourselves another big challenge for 2024!

With our ongoing efforts, we will be aiming to raise £10,000 to create, firstly, The Baobab Football Team. Football is more than just a game in Africa; it’s a way of life, a shared passion that brings communities together and keeps spirits high. The football team will include raising funds for a coach, and full kit, including socks, shorts and football boots. Our support will help the children of The Baobab financially, but also nurture dreams and foster a sense of purpose among the young players.

Our £10,000 target includes a second project - The Baobab Feeding Programme. Proper nutrition, as we all know, is essential for the growth, health and performance of children. For the young members of the Baobab, having access to regular, nutritious meals outside of school and during term breaks is often a challenge. Our feeding programme aims to ensure that these children and their families do not go hungry, especially during the holidays when school meals are not available. Our support will ensure that this gap is filled and every family receives the support they need during the school breaks.

Both the Football Team and the Feeding Programme encompass two values that are very close to the hearts of Keith Prowse and The Experience Golf, and two things that every child should experience and have access to.
