Ugo Monye - Keith Prowse Ambassador

three minutes

At Keith Prowse, we’re proud to work with some of the most respected and recognisable names in sport - and few represent the spirit of rugby quite like Ugo Monye. Known for his lightning pace, infectious enthusiasm, and genuine connection with fans, Ugo has built a remarkable career both on and off the pitch.

A Rugby Journey Rooted in Passion

Born in Islington, London, Ugo Monye began his rugby career with Harlequins, where his talent quickly stood out. Over an incredible 13-year spell, he became one of the club’s greatest ever players, making 241 appearances, scoring 89 tries, and lifting a Premiership title along the way.

His talent soon took him to the international stage, earning his England debut in 2008 before representing the nation 14 times. A year later, Ugo joined the British & Irish Lions Tour to South Africa, where his famous length-of-the-field try in the final Test became an unforgettable moment in rugby history - a perfect showcase of his determination and flair.

From Pitch to Pundit

Since retiring in 2015, Ugo has become one of the most respected voices in sport. Today, he’s a television presenter, pundit, and podcast host, working across BBC Sport, ITV, and BT Sport, and co-hosting the award-winning BBC Rugby Union Weekly podcast. His insight, energy, and charisma have made him a fan favourite, both with seasoned rugby followers and new audiences discovering the game.

Beyond rugby, Ugo has also become a regular face at some of the UK’s biggest sporting and cultural events - and that’s where our paths continue to cross.

A Partnership Built on Shared Values

Our relationship with Ugo stretches back more than four years. He first worked with us as the England Rugby Hospitality Brand Ambassador, in partnership with Twickenham Experience Limited (TEL), where he brought an extra touch of magic to match days at Allianz Stadium. Ugo would chat with guests, sign memorabilia, and share behind-the-scenes insights that made every hospitality experience feel truly special.

Now, as the official Keith Prowse Ambassador, Ugo continues to embody our mission to bring fans closer to the action. Over the past year, he’s joined us at some of our most iconic events - including The Championships, Wimbledon, and the Allianz Stadium - sharing in the excitement and energy that make these occasions unforgettable.

And this is just the beginning. With even more events on the horizon, from world-class rugby fixtures to the UK’s most prestigious social occasions, Ugo’s involvement will continue to enhance the Keith Prowse experience - bringing fans closer to the moments that matter.

We’re incredibly proud to have Ugo Monye as part of the Keith Prowse family - a partnership built on shared passion, excellence, and the love of sport.

Getting to know Ugo Monye

Ahead of the partnership launch, we caught up with Ugo and asked him a few fun and light-hearted questions to help you, our valued followers find out a little more about him…

What is your favourite sport to play or watch that isn’t rugby?

‘Favourite sport to play is padel, favourite sport to watch outside of rugby is football – I am obsessed with football, football is my first love’

How did you decide it was time to retire and why?

‘I explored and took so many different opportunities during my career, and I had the opportunity to go into broadcast, and I realised I loved it. My body wasn’t able to do all the things that I wanted it to do anymore, and I didn’t think I could contribute to the levels that I had previously, and it was Sir Alex Furgeson that always said; you’re better off retiring a year early than a year late and I definitely took that advise on and now I love my job in broadcasting.’

What was the best thing about being a professional rugby player?

‘The best thing about being a professional rugby player is playing at massive stadiums in front of loads of people. I loved playing at Allianz Stadium in front of 82,000 people – it was great. Probably even better than that is doing a job you love – rugby was a hobby, that turned into a profession.’
