Ugo’s professional rugby journey began in 2002 with Harlequins, where he quickly impressed with his agility, speed, and natural flair. Over the years, he became a cornerstone of the team, making over 240 appearances and crossing the try line nearly 90 times. His role in the Harlequins Premiership-winning campaign remains a standout moment, showcasing his ability to perform when it matters most.
His club success paved the way for international recognition. Ugo earned his England debut in 2008 and went on to represent his country multiple times. In 2009, he was selected for the British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa, where he scored a try in the final Test - a highlight that continues to be celebrated by rugby fans around the world.
Since retiring in 2015, Ugo has turned his attention to sharing his love of the game through media and public engagement. He is a regular television and radio pundit, featuring across BBC Sport, ITV, and TNT Sport, and co-hosts the highly regarded BBC Rugby Union Weekly podcast. Known for his clear insight and approachable style, Ugo has become a trusted voice for fans looking to understand the game at a deeper level.
But Ugo’s influence goes far beyond broadcasting. Ugo is a passionate advocate for women’s sport, championing equality and celebrating female athletes wherever he can. Earlier this year, he also played a high-profile role as a host during the announcement of the British & Irish Lions squad, sharing his knowledge and passion for rugby with fans.
Outside of sport, Ugo showcased his versatility and charisma on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, partnered with professional dancer Oti Mabuse, performing dances including the Cha-Cha-Cha, Tango, and Jive - demonstrating that his energy and determination extend far beyond the rugby pitch.
Over the years, Ugo has joined us (Keith Prowse) at some of the UK’s most iconic events, including The Championships, Wimbledon, and numerous England Rugby fixtures at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, enjoying the excitement alongside guests and fans. He brings his signature enthusiasm to every occasion, connecting with audiences, sharing insights from his rugby career, and helping make each event memorable.
As a former England Rugby Hospitality Brand Ambassador and now the Keith Prowse Ambassador, Ugo continues to make rugby and sporting events more memorable for guests.
