The New Zealand cricket team played their first Test match at Edgbaston in 1958 against England, and their first at The Kia Oval in 1965, also against England, solidifying their early days of playing away from home.

 The New Zealand cricket team's best performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup came in 2015 when they reached the final for the first time, ultimately finishing as runners-up. Co-captained by Brendon McCullum, the team’s thrilling journey to the final captivated fans worldwide, and they were narrowly defeated by Australia. Despite the loss, their performance marked a historic moment for the New Zealand cricket team, showcasing their growth as a cricketing powerhouse.
